This chapter describes the kinds of special needs your students may have and describes ways of identifying and
assisting these students. Included is a table listing strategies that are useful when teaching students who
have various educational challenges.

This chapter addresses legal and ethical concerns facing nursing educators, particularly staff developers.
Among the legal issues discussed are copyright laws governing the educational use of others’ materials.

This chapter excerpt describes legal principles and policies involving student performance that nursing
educators should be aware of. Topics include students’ rights, guidelines for providing due process to
students, and the grievance and student appeal processes. Also discussed are the nursing faculty’s
responsibilities in evaluating clinical and classroom performance.
